The world is not ready for another pandemic! we must be prepared for the next one. As the world faces new globalized health threats and natural disasters, temporary structures were designed as a part of a competition launched by archisearch.gr originally created in response to the COVID-19 crisis. BackUp Origami project could easily be adapted for not only the COVID-19 crisis but can be used in every situation like an earthquake, flooding, pandemic situations, refugees, etc... The project proposes a simple solution: to reclaim public spaces under the aerial subway line, highways, underpasses, bridges, it is a multi-functional and reversible installation, and it doesn't require any complex technologies or skilled labor. As well as dealing with the sudden large number of sick people and keeping city life as normal as possible for everyone else. Based on a realistic situation and on science fiction the project focus on territorial and urban development projects and architectural design by a foldable origami wall system by not only using cheap and affordable materials but as well as sustainable and recycled that easily could be developed into a single unit 4 x 6 meters and the height are adjustable according to the site situation, the unit itself is quick to deploy and shift and merging a single unit into a big MULTI-UNIT function when needed. BackUp Origami features are being adapted to protect the public health, the units are quick to deploy, reversible and reusable, flexible, and easy to open “only a few volunteers needed” and it is easy to design multiple modular configurations according to the site and the emergency needs.
